For drivers under 19, Utah requires 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours behind the wheel with a certified instructor, and 6 hours of in-car observation. Teens also need 40 hours of supervised practice driving logged with a parent or guardian, 10 of which must be at night.
Yes. A valid Utah learner's permit must be in hand before any behind-the-wheel session. You can get one at age 15 after passing the written knowledge test. Schools will not put a student in the car without it.
A full teen package usually runs $300 to $450 depending on the city and how much behind-the-wheel time is included. No. Utah requires that your final road test be administered by a different approved third-party tester or by the Driver License Division. We account for this automatically when we match you, so you are never sent somewhere that cannot legally test you.
